LEARN TO PLAY THERAPY
Learn to Play Therapy
Learn to Play Therapy was developed by Karen Stagnitti in 2017 and is a program used to increase a child's ability to instigate their own pretend play. Pretend play is essential in developing social skills and language skills. It also encourages problem solving skills and we have seen increases in children's time spent playing in complex play and their ability to hold concentration.

This is a great program for children that have started preschool or primary school and are finding it difficult to learn or play with others.

-
Learn to Play has been developed for 1 - 6 year olds. Although depending on the child's developmental play level, we have seen children older.

-
Learn To Play can support children with developmental delay, learning problems, ASD and neurological conditions.

For some children, playing, especially pretend play doesn't come naturally. But with this program we can rewind and teach a child to play, therefore supporting development on all levels.

There is an initial parent intake meeting to find out all about the child and what's happening. There will also be a play ability assessment to assess where the child's developmental play level is at, which is important so we know where to begin.
Programs Avaliable
We also offer a Parent Learn To Play program which runs for 10-12 weeks in which the therapist works alongside and teaches the parent or carer 6 skills in engaging your child in play, extending on the play and attuning to your child in play.

We recognise that the parent is extremely important in the child's world and learning to play together and connect through play is vital for their development, health and well being.
